Keys – Lyrically Gifted Divinity

Kendall Lee Holloway, also known as Keys, came from a family of talented musicians. His love for music started when he was little, as he watched a drummer from his church (Power Hope and Grace Bible Church) play in one of the services. Keys started playing percussion when he was only in the fifth grade. Later on, picked up lead guitar in middle school. At Power Hope and Grace Bible Church, Keys was known for being a drummer, bassist, and lead guitarist. Currently, Keys also plays bass for a gospel singing group called Highly Favored, lead by his father, Michael Holloway.

During high school, Keys attended Cass Tech and got involved with the marching band. He described his experience with learning new instruments in marching band for percussion and becoming a trombonist, as a way to fill in any instrument that was needed at the time. He was involved in the symphony band and marching band at Cass playing percussion and trombone. Keys also was a part of a jazz band, playing bass. Later on in his junior year, he became a part of Stick Squad in the Spring. After graduation, Keys was known as Cass Tech’s percussionist, jazz bassist, and trombonist. Later on that summer, Keys got an opportunity to be a part of Big Sean’s Adidas commercial, Adidas Originals |ZX Flux #ImaginedBy Big Sean, which aired June 16, 2015.

Keys is currently at Central Michigan University, studying Music Education. He still is pursuing ways to build his career in music by joining organizations, such as playing bass for CMU’s Orchestra and acoustic bass for C3 (Christ Central Choir). He still finds time to compose new material on the piano during his free time. Turning dreams into reality is easier when people start to believe in the work that you do, and Kendall Holloway found that in Kiyanna Johnson, a music journalist, he currently with. She encouraged him to be in WhatsTheWordCMU and Justus League. These organizations gives him the connections he needs to make music for CMU music artists. All his life, Keys has been surrounded by music, but overall, he feels that going into producing will highlight not one, but all of his gifts.
